During a demonstration to demand the cancellation of Minera Cuzcatlán in the Central Valleys of Oaxaca, members of the No to Mining Front received threats from unknown persons who said that "they would bring weapons to take out the demonstrators", and that "we already know who they are, we have them located". The threats come at a time when the Canadian mining company Fortuna Silver Mines has presented the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) with a third attempt to justify 75 irregular works in the Valles Centrales territories and extend its concession for another 10 years, a fact that has been rejected by community assemblies. The people threatened are constitutional municipal authorities and agrarian representative bodies of the communities Magdalena Ocotlán, San Matías Chilazoa, Monte del Toro, San Martín de los Cansecos, Los Ocotes, El Vergel, Santa Catarina Minas, San Nicolás Yaxe, San Dionisio Ocotepec and the Coordinadora de Pueblos Unidos del Valle de Ocotlán. Today, the No to Mining Front is carrying out two blockades at Monte del Toro and Magdalena Ocotlán, with the participation of authorities and members of the aforementioned communities, as well as personnel from the Human Rights Ombudsman's Office of the People of Oaxaca.
