[Summary translation prepared by Business & Human Rights Resource Centre]

Operational data on supervisory and control activities of inspection from 14 October 2024 to 20 October 2024, 21 October 2024

The investigation into a group accident involving employees of PJSC VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation on 27 July 2024 has been completed. The incident occurred when workers were traveling in a company car (TOYOTA Corolla) from Koltsovo Airport to Verkhnyaya Salda. At 14:40, at the 107th kilometer of the Yekaterinburg–Serov highway, the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to veer off the road and crash into trees. Two passengers died at the scene, one was hospitalized with serious injuries, and the driver declined hospitalization.

The main cause was speeding by an employee of LLC VSMPO-Avtotrans, who failed to consider road and weather conditions, including visibility. One of the passengers was not wearing a seatbelt.

Contributing factors included poor work organization, lack of oversight by supervisors, insufficient enforcement of labor discipline and occupational safety requirements, and inadequate driver safety training. The investigation materials have been submitted to law enforcement and the prosecutor's office.
