China's Zijin plans new investments in Serbia

China's Zijin is planning new investments in Serbia, it was announced...after a meeting between company representatives and Prime Minister Đuro Macuta in Belgrade.
"Zidin representatives stated that the company is planning investments using the most advanced technologies, given that green development is the company's concept," the Serbian Government announced on Tuesday.
It is added that the topic of Macuto's conversation with Ziđin representatives was the further development of the mining sector in accordance with the highest environmental standards.
"In this context, the Prime Minister called on company representatives to strengthen environmental protection capacities in the vicinity of the Bor mine and throughout eastern Serbia," the Government announced.
The Ziđin company's operations in eastern Serbia have been criticized for alleged ecological damage and devastation of the natural environment, which the company denies and claims to respect environmental standards...
The non-governmental organization Regional Institute for Renewable Energy and the Environment (RERI) announced in July 2025 that it, together with ten residents of villages near the Bor mine, Krivelj, Bor and Slatina, had filed a criminal complaint against the Ziđin Koper company due to, as RERI stated, "the long-term pollution to which they have been exposed due to the activities of this company, which has led to air, water and soil pollution."
Ziđin in Serbia has repeatedly officially denied such allegations and stated "that the parameters of the harmful impact have been significantly reduced after Ziđin took measures to protect the environment in recent years."
