On 30 June 2026, Business & Human Rights Centre invited AE Industrial Partners to respond to concerns that their firm has been involved in serving clients in the spyware industry with aims that allegedly “diverge from the public [interest] and have been shown to harm human rights and national security”. We invited them to explain their process for client due diligence as well as their approach to addressing concerns raised by multiple United Nations Special Rapporteurs, who have affirmed that unless spyware companies can prove they are acting in a way that is consistent with international human rights law, it is “unlikely that such technology can ever be used lawfully”.
