Asda to scrap birth date queries [UK]

Asda [part of Wal-Mart] will no longer ask people applying for a job to give their date of birth on the application form, as part of its anti-discrimination policy...The move goes beyond new age discrimination legislation which comes into force on October 1...The new government regulations aim to outlaw discrimination on the grounds of age, but do not prevent employers asking candidates how old they are when applying for a job.
