Bangladesh: Unit prices of garments sourced by UK & EU buyers have dropped, reports find

The unit prices of three garment items sourced from Bangladesh by buyers in the European Union (EU) and the United States witnessed a year-on-year decline during the July-September period...

Eurostat reported that EU buyers of cotton T-shirts experienced a reduction of 7.37 per cent in July, 11.60 per cent in August, and 10.76 per cent in September. In the case of men’s and boy’s cotton trousers, the decrease was 1.59 per cent, 7.80 per cent, and 14.71 per cent, while cotton sweaters saw declines of 7.15 per cent, 13.21 per cent, and 14.71 per cent, respectively.

Similarly, OTEXA revealed that US buyers of cotton T-shirts paid 7.25 per cent less in July, 16.74 per cent in August, and 25.38 per cent in September. For men’s and boy’s cotton trousers, the declines were 1.55 per cent, 0.94 per cent, and 5.47 per cent, and for cotton sweaters, the figures were 10.85 per cent, 5.79 per cent, and 3.98 per cent, respectively.
