India: Adani Group's mining project in bio-diverse Hasdeo region allegedly ravaged local environment & displaced indigenous people

Recent media reports cite concerns that Adani Group's upcoming coal mine project in Hasdeo Aranya Forest, Chhattisgarh has “ravaged the local environment and displaced indigenous people”. The reports reveal that Adani Group’s mining projects in the region have “triggered strong opposition from local villagers”, since the bio-diversity rich Hasdeo forest is recognised as a “No-Go Zone” for any mining activities. Further, activists have raised concerns that the project would “result in forest destruction and trigger human-animal conflict”.

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Adani Group to respond to the allegations. It did not.
