Companies investing in controversial far-flung projects may soon be able to secure government guarantees without the stringent human rights and environmental safeguards in place at the moment...The move, in a new Bill, will reignite the controversy surrounding export credit guarantees, which offer assistance to energy, defence and manufacturing companies in places such as Iran where private sector insurance is not routinely available.
