It explains the expansion and development of the notion of corporate social responsibility in Chinese law, and the gap between law and practice. A case study on PetroChina Company Limited , one of the leading state - owned enterprises in China, presents efforts on improving its corporate social responsibility system and on using international framework on business and human rights in its operations. However, challenges concerning respect for human rights in its operations within China and overseas are prominent as well. Thus, there is a discussion on concrete measures with respect to specific human rights issues.
