Nepal: Companies respond to earthquake, aid rescue mission & rehabilitation efforts

A strong, magnitude 7.8 earthquake rocked Nepal on 25 April 2015, destroying buildings, damaging historic temples, and killing thousands. The temblor was caused by a sudden thrust, or release of built-up tension, along the major fault line where the plate carrying India is slowly diving underneath the one carrying much of Europe and Asia, according to the US Geological SurveyAfter the main quake, 14 aftershocks were felt by local people with some strong enough to cause more damage, up to a magnitude 6.6. The earthquake is reported to have killed more than 8000 people and left more than 18,00 injured. Several industry organizations stepped in to help with supplies, food and money to aid in the relief effort, while tech and telecom companies offered much needed services to find missing people, contacting people and contribute donations.
