Russia: Court fines Yandex.Food for leaking thousands of couriers' data; co. for leaking personal data of 58,000 customers

Yandex.Food fined 60,000 rubles for leaking couriers' data, 3 August 2022

Magistrate court of the Zamoskvoretsky district of Moscow fined the Yandex.Food service 60,000 rubles for leaking the personal data of thousands of couriers of the service, Kommersant reports.

The leaked databases contained last names, first names, emails, phone numbers and encrypted passwords - a total of 700,000 lines of data.

In April the service was also fined 60,000 rubles for leaking the personal data of 58,000 customers. Their names, phone numbers, addresses, intercom codes and the amount of expenses over the past six months have been made public. The cause of the leak was the actions of one of the employees...

At the end of March, 33 service clients filed a lawsuit against Yandex.Food, and about 300 more people filed applications to join it. Clients accuse Yandex.Food of violating the law "On Personal Data", they demand moral compensation of 100 thousand rubles for each. The plaintiffs note that after the leakage of personal data on the Internet, customers began to receive calls from unknown people with advertising offers...
