In June 2020, the Times of India reported that nine Indian workers who had gone to work for a company in Saudi Arabia four months previous, were now homeless, stranded, dependent on charitable aid and had not been paid for three months salary.
They said that when they arrived in Saudi Arabia the work requirement was different from that they had been told by an agent. The original company sent them to work for a second company which closed without paying the workers' salaries. The original employer then also closed, asking the workers to leave its premises for a nearby camp. The workers were left homeless after the camp owner evicted them when they had not been paid rent.
