South Korea: POSCO workers strike again over wage demands, incl. co. comment
Unionised workers at South Korean steelmaker POSCO launched a second 120‑hour partial strike at its Pohang and Gwangyang plants after wage talks stalled. The union demands a 7.1 % base‑pay rise, a 600 % performance bonus, 50 company shares and a 200 % holiday bonus, citing staffing shortages and ageing facilities that could endanger safety. POSCO offered only a 2 % increase and said it would not cause major disruption. Union spokesperson Yi Jae‑hyuk warned the walkout would continue unless an acceptable proposal is made.
