In 2023, a woman human rights defender from Ulaanbadrakh soum, Mongolia was harrassed by the police who tried to arrest her during a protest to ask a mining company operating in the area to stop drilling. Other villagers surrounded the defender to stop the police from arresting her. According to the defender, the police were called by the mining company.

The head of an NGO from the region was harrassed by the police in the same year.
