Jordan: Construction company Lafarge allegedly violating workers' rights to health amid the pandemic; incl. company response

An article published by Jordan Labor Watch alleges that LafargeHolcim in Jordan has taken administrative measures that have undermined the rights of its workers. This includes cancelling the health insurance for workers and their families and decreasing workers’ wages. The article also alleges that the company has threatened to dismiss 72 of its workers in violation of its agreement with the workers syndicate committee which stipulates that no worker should be dismissed except pursuant to an agreement between the company and the committee. Finally the article says that Lafarge has withdrawn the classification of “hazardous professions” from certain workers in order to disregard their rights. Finally, the article states that Lafarge has not complied with annual wage increase rules and promotions for its workers.
