"Vietnamese woman in Pailin accused of sex trafficking", 13 January 2020

Pailin Provincial Court ... charged a massage shop owner and an accomplice accused of sex trafficking and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking in the province.

Pailin provincial police ... arrested four Vietnamese women and two men during a raid on the shop in Sala Krao district.

Police arrested shop owner Sok Sreylin, 35, a Vietnamese national, an unnamed Thai accomplice, three Vietnamese women and a Cambodian security guard.

Brigadier General Sin Sophea Leaksmey, deputy chief of provincial police, on Saturday said police officers raided the shop in Stung Kach commune at around 1pm and also detained four Chinese clients who were cautioned and released.

“After the suspects were arrested, police found some condoms in the owner’s handbag and hundreds of used condoms disposed of in garbage cans,” he said. “We believe that the shop was being used to run a sex business.”...

Thuy Kamhoeng, a deputy prosecutor at the provincial court, ... said the court charged Sreylin with sex trafficking and the accomplice with conspiracy to commit sex trafficking.

“The court charged only two people over the alleged sex trafficking,” he said. “It released the guard and also the three workers who were victims,” he said.

Mr Kamhoeng added that Investigating Judge Kim Meng decided to put both Sreylin and the unnamed accomplice in pre-trial detention.
