[DOC] Explanatory note

On 24 June 2008, a representative of the Special Representative to the UN Secretary General on business & human rights, John Ruggie (“SRSG”), addressed the 7th Inter-Committee Meeting of the United Nations’ Human Rights Treaty Bodies. The representative led a discussion on the conceptual and policy framework presented by the SRSG in his 2008 report to the Human Rights Council... The attached Background Note [PDF here] was distributed to participants – it briefly explains the framework; describes the SRSG’s work relating to the Treaty Bodies to date; and provides some suggestions on how the framework may relate to the work of the Treaty Bodies moving forward.
