Indonesia: Girl alleges Chinese biofuel exporter's truck activities damaged family house in Jambi

In Jambi, Indonesia, a middle school student named Syarifah Fadiah Alkaff used TikTok to speak out against a Chinese wood pellet company, Rimba Palma Sejahtera Lestari (RPSL). She blames their trucks for damaging her grandmother's house and accuses the company and local officials of breaking the law. Her outspokenness led local authorities to report her online activities to the police under the country's strict internet laws.

Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited RPSL and its parent company ELL Environmental Holdings Ltd. to respond. RPSL provided a response stating that the company has "actively engaged in mediation with the grandmother's family several times in the past" and is "committed to fair and reasonable resolutions".
