Iran: Work-Related fatalities reportedly surge in 2023, exceeding 2000

"Work-Related Fatalities in Iran Surge, Exceeding 2,000 Last Year"

More than 2,000 Iranian workers lost their lives due to work-related incidents last year, officials have said.

Ali Ziaei, head of the crime scene investigation group at Iran's Forensic Medicine Organization, reported 2,115 work-related fatalities in the past year.

This represents an alarming 11.3 percent increase compared to the previous year.

"Falls from height" were the leading cause of death, claiming 983 lives.

Additionally, over 27,000 work-related injuries required referral to forensic medical centers.

Provinces like Tehran, Isfahan, and Razavi Khorasan saw the highest number of work-related deaths...

Labor activists and independent organizations believe the official statistics significantly underestimate the true number of deaths and injuries.
