Myanmar: Justice for Myanmar report finds Australian mining cos. and investors effectively provide 'support and legitimacy' to military

A report by the Justice for Myanmar finds that Australian mining companies and investors have continued to operate in Myanmar effectively providing “support and legitimacy” to the military. The report asserts that “funds from the mining sector flows to the junta through revenue sharing, rent and tax, helping to fund its ongoing atrocities”.

The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited the companies and firms cited in the report: Access Asia Mining, Asia Pacific Mining Limited, Australian Laboratory Services, Cornerstone Resources, Geo-PSI Drilling Co. Ltd., Knight Piésold, Mission Legal, PanAust, Unity Energy and Resources, and Valentis Group. Only PanAust, Knight Piésold, and Valentis Group responded (linked below).
