"Cheongju SK Hynix hit by fire again, all staff evacuated — second incident this month", 12 June 2026

At around 9:50 a.m. on the 12th, a fire broke out in the gas room on the second floor of the M15X building at SK Hynix (...) 's Campus 4 in Cheongju, North Chungcheong Province. It was the second fire incident at the facility this month.

Immediately following the fire, all approximately 3,600 workers present in the M15 and M15X buildings were reported to have evacuated. There have been no gas leaks or casualties.

Workers are reported to have contained the blaze at an early stage. Fire authorities are working to confirm the exact cause of the fire and the number of personnel evacuated.

An SK Hynix spokesperson stated that the fire had been brought under control at an early stage, that no casualties had been confirmed, and that the circumstances and impact of the incident were still being investigated. Production is not expected to be significantly disrupted.
