UN Principles on Business and Human Rights to be discussed in UK Parliament

[T]he United Nations has agreed a framework to address the human rights impacts of business activities around the world. The UN’s achievement will be discussed this evening at an event in the UK Parliament co-organised by the All Party Parliamentary Group on International Corporate Responsibility and the London-based Institute for Human Rights and Business. The featured guest speaker for the event will be United States Assistant Secretary of State for democracy, human rights and labour, Michael Posner. Posner has worked for decades on issues relating to business and human rights and will address an audience of parliamentarians, business and civil society organisations on how the new UN framework will impact efforts to address business action with a specific focus on conflict zones and other high-risk areas.
