Armenia: Workers of Sartex factory producing clothes for Italian brands strike over alleged mistreatment & underpaid wages, co. director fined for violations after labour inspection; incl.co. responses & non-responses

Employees of the Armenian-Italian company Sartex CJSC went on strike on October 6, demanding that they are paid their salaries as per their contracts, as well as protesting against mistreatment by the foreign supervisors. Business and Human Rights Resource Centre invited Sartex CJSC to respond to the allegations. The company responded (see below).

After the Health and Labour Inspection Body found violations in the company, we approached international partners of Sartex (mentioned on the company website) to respond to the allegations against their supplier company. Only Moncler S.p.A. responded.

The Health and Labour Inspection Body later published more detailed information about the violations recorded during its inspection at Sartex factory. Following the publication, we again approached Sartex and the brands for comment. The follow-up responses by Sartex and Moncler S.p.A. are available below.
