Thousands of south-east Queensland commuters have been left scrambling with some train services cancelled due to workers taking industrial action, but the union says it did not intend for passengers to be affected.

Rail Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) Queensland said train controllers intended to only take "low impact" industrial action affecting the running of coal and mineral trains, but not passenger services, for 24 hours…

Queensland Rail chief executive Kat Stapleton said she "didn't accept" that Queensland Rail was responsible for choosing not to allow workers to run commuter services…

Union calling for 'fair wage increase'
Queensland Rail said they had been negotiating with the RTBU since January, including attending a Fair Work Commission hearing on Tuesday afternoon, and an offer of a 10.5 per cent rise over four years was put forward.
Ms Whyte said the union's demand was for Queensland Rail to "come back to the table and negotiate with us".
