Residents involved in a land dispute with Global Green in Preah Vihear say threats of legal action, police summons and surveillance of community leaders are undermining their right to protest as they continue seeking resolution over nearly 1,000 hectares of disputed farmland
Community members in Preah Vihear involved in a land dispute with Global Green (Cambodia) Energy Development Co., Ltd. say they are increasingly concerned about their right to protest after a prominent community representative was threatened with legal action and placed under surveillance.
The concerns come after Lom Sae, 29, a prominent community representative, was prohibited by local police from participating in protests against the company with a series of submitted petitions that sought Rovieng District's intervention in the land dispute between residents and the iron ore exploration company affiliated with the children of tycoon Try Pheap that has received several mining licenses in the province…
Yuri claims that the company entered more than 984 hectares of the community’s farmland without prior notice or consultation, leaving residents powerless to stop them…
