India: Representatives of late indigenous rights and anti-mining activist ask court to clear his name

Human right continues even after death said late Father Stan Swany's lawyers and seek that his next of kin be permitted to clear the "stigma" to his name, as the trial court while denying him bail gave a prima facie finding of guilt in the 2018 Elgar Parishad Case.

Father Swamy was accused of Maoist links and terror offences, under a special anti-terror law...

Fr Swamy, 84, a tribal rights activist, was arrested last October in the Pune case. He was moved to hospital in May... on directions of the high court based on his frail health, and died on July 5... The [high court] was hearing two separate appeals he had filed against rejection of his bail, both on merit and health grounds...
