In April, thousands of villagers protest over mass displacement, impacts on livelihoods and inadequate compensation allegedly linked to the Ken-Betwa Link Project in India. Reportedly NCC has been awarded a contract valued at ₹3,389.49 crore for the project construction, reported by The Economic Times. The protests along the Ken River are driven by resistance to the project, specifically the construction of the Daudhan Dam due to concerns over displacement, inadequate compensation and lack of consultation.

In late April, Business and Human Rights Centre invited NCC to respond to the allegations but it did not.
