Japan: 150 Vietnamese workers subjected to wage theft by Nekuseru employment agency; workers remain without "jobs or compensation"
In December 2024, it was reported that 150 Vietnamese workers were subjected to wage theft by their employer, Nekuseru recruitment agency in Chiba prefecture.
The workers came under engineer, technician, and interpreter visas. They were dispatched by Nekuseru to other companies but the labour supplier was responsible for their wages.
In May 2025, it was reported that the Vietnamese embassy had worked to ‘resolve the issue’, and that the company has ceased operations, leaving the workers without jobs or compensation.
