Myanmar: Garment workers at MaiyiBei (Yangon) factory report multiple abuses incl. denial of social security benefits & leave; incl. co. responses

In August 2023, it was reported that workers at MaiyiBei (Yangon) Manufacturing factory are facing a series of violations, including denial of social security benefits and no access to a social security clinic for health issues, denial of leave incl. medical leave and wage cuts if workers take time off, workers paid low wages if they resign, no contract signed between the employer and workers, poor health and safety measures including poor ventilation, excessive production targets and workers forced to work unpaid overtime if targets are not met, and verbal abuse.

In January 2024, the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited LPP S.A (for its Sinsay brand) and Hang Ten to respond. Full responses below.
