Myanmar: Workers to receive severance pay after temporary factory closure following union negotiation with Dong Yu Garment factory; incl. co. response

In June 2021, the Dong Yu Garment factory allegedly closed temporarily without paying workers' severance or specifying when the factory would reopen. On 10 September 2021, it was reported that leaders of the Industrial Workers’ Federation of Myanmar had reached an agreement on severance pay with the employer.

In June 2022, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited BESTSELLER to respond. BESTSELLER said it had brought the relevant parties together to resolve the issue through the ACT DRM, and that an agreement had been reached in June. The full response is included below.
