PDK cadres protest Kudankulam power project [India]

As many as 60 cadres from Periyar Dravida Kazhagam (PDK) [Tamil Nadu-based political party] gathered with 25 motor cycles and two cars at the junction of the L & T bypass road near Eachanari on Thursday and attempted a rally to Kudankulam…"Kudankulam nuclear power project doesn't have any safety measures. We can't easily dispose off the uranium which will affect neighbouring areas. The state would not get sufficient electricity even after completing the project. The central government has planned to supply 500 megawatt electricity to Srilanka," said K Ramakrishnan, General Secretary of PDK…Our demand is the government should not implement the project," he added.
