Peru: strike by workers at Los Pelambres mine over labor conditions

指控

“Critical moment at Los Pelambres mine: supervisors set to strike, but company commits to a new offer”, October 9, 2025.
The start of the first strike by the Supervisors’ Union at Los Pelambres mine had been scheduled for 8:00 a.m. today, after the workers rejected the latest offer presented by the company.
A statement released by the union last night said that “despite the pressure exerted by company executives during the process, the supervisors maintained their unity and conviction, firmly defending their legitimate demands for fair treatment, professional recognition, and real improvements in working conditions.”
Shortly before 8:00 a.m., however, the union announced via its X account that Antofagasta Minerals—which operates Los Pelambres and is owned by the Luksic Group—had committed to presenting a new offer.
Among the workers’ demands are bonuses and a salary adjustment.
