"Foreign worker in his twenties dies in crushing accident at Ulsan shipyard", 19 July 2026

A foreign worker in his twenties, employed by a subcontractor, died in a crushing accident at HD Hyundai Heavy Industries' Ulsan shipyard on 18 July.

At around 4:52pm that day, another worker discovered Mr A, a national of Uzbekistan, trapped between an upper structure and a gondola inside the cargo hold of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier under construction.

Mr A was taken to hospital unconscious but died. (…)

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries said, "We express our deepest condolences to the deceased and his bereaved family," adding that it "will cooperate faithfully with the investigation."
