Tech companies criticized for their complicity & bias against Palestinians regarding the Gaza conflict

Amid further escalations of attacks in Palestinian Gaza and the West Bank, technology companies are facing criticism for failing to address hate speech, misinformation, and disinformation which is disproportionately affecting Palestinian individuals, supporters, and human rights defenders. Companies have also been criticised for their alleged complicity in censoring Palestinian voices and for exhibiting bias. Additionally, there are concerns about the persistence of antisemitic content on their platforms. These allegations further highlight the importance of social media platforms recognising their heightened human rights responsibilities as outlined in the UNGPs in conflict-affected areas. The Business & Human Rights Resource Centre has reached out to companies about these allegations.
