Teck Cominco settles Alaska air-quality charges [USA]

Teck Cominco has agreed to pay $300,000 to the state of Alaska and to spend an additional $278,900 on environmental and public-health improvements to settle charges of air pollution at its Red Dog Mine...One environmental activist said the settlement failed to address some broader issues, including the accumulation of heavy metals contamination over the years.
