TotalEnergies accused of supplying fuel to Russian warplanes; co. denies accusations

On the 24th of August an investigation by Le Monde revealed that part of the production of TotalEnergies would supply kerosene to Russian military air bases which planes are involved in the war in Ukraine.

TotalÉnergies and the Russian company Novatek exploit a gas field via the company Terneftegaz "whose gas condensates, a liquid hydrocarbon..., once transformed into kerosene, are used to refuel Russian combat planes...", according to the investigation.

TotalEnergies denies the allegations. The oil group assures that it is "minority shareholder (49%) of Terneftegaz since December 2009, alongside Novatek (51%)" and that it has "neither control nor information on the sales which are then made by Novatek". It also specifies that it has not received a dividend from Terneftegaz since February 2022.
