Venie Diamante, a Filipino and a T’boli and municipal tribal chieftain, was killed after sustaining eight gunshot wounds from an unnamed assailant on board a motorcycle. The murder is said to be linked to his effort in resisting the encroachment on the T’boli’s ancestral domain by a palm oil plantation.
