On February 16, 2021 the Alianza Colombia Libre de Fracking reported on death threats received by several young people from the Committee for the Defense of Water, Life and Territory (AguaWil), for their position against this practice of hydraulic fracturing in wells tankers. AguaWil is a committee that has been organizing in defense of its territory against the possible implementation of fracking. He has led peaceful actions of a pedagogical, cultural and mobilization nature to express his opposition to the “Pilot Projects of Integral Research ”. The death threats against the AguaWil movement for their opposition to hydraulic fracking in Puerto Wilches occurred in the context of debates in the Congress, promoted by organizations of the national environmental movement, about fracking plans by Ecopetrol, ExxonMobil, Tecpetrol, and Drummond (of coal and shale gas).
