Angola is the third largest oil producer in Africa...and the fifth largest diamond producer in the world. Its endowment in natural resources has brought much destruction to its people and its soil, for it has always attracted an unscrupulous international race to secure a share of those resources...Although the violence has decreased in the past few months, it still persists...I have so far documented the involvement of 17 leading generals and eight top police officers as main shareholders of the core PSCs [private security companies]...A more recent example is that of Alfa-5, a company in which the previous Chief of the Staff of the Army and current Deputy Minister of Defence, General Sanjar, has shares.
