Global: Unicef publishes review of current state of children's rights in company reporting

"Corporate Reporting on Children's Rights", June 2025

How are some of the most influential companies in the world reporting on their impact on children? Using AI technology to analyse sustainability reports of 794 companies from across all regions of the globe, this global review provides insights into company disclosures on a range of issues relevant to children’s rights.

The report highlights trends and gaps in disclosure on children’s rights allowing for the identification of good practices as well as areas in need of improvement. The report also provides specific data on disclosure on children’s rights by industry sector and geographic region.

Overall, the review reveals some positive trends, such as 40% of companies disclosing a commitment to respecting and supporting children’s rights. However, many core child rights issues are still not sufficiently covered in sustainability reports. This gap is likely due to a lack of recognition of child rights impacts as material issues, with only 13% of companies disclosing whether they identify, consult or engage with children as a stakeholder group.

With the global emphasis on high-quality sustainability reporting to enhance business transparency and accountability, this report highlights that children’s rights remain a blind spot for most companies.
