Peter Kalmus - Scientist Rebellion
Sources
Peter Kalmus is a climate scientist in NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, a research lab that studies both outer space and planet Earth, in aims of better understanding our climate and fighting climate disasters. He is also a co-founder of the Climate Ad Project, an organization that makes and places ads raising awareness about the climate crisis, as well as Earth Hero, an app that aims to bring together activists to fight against climate change. Kalmus has a B.A. in physics from Harvard and a Ph.D in physics from Columbia, and is the author of the 2017 book Being the Change: Live Well and Spark a Climate Revolution. On April 6, 2022, Kalmus and three fellow scientists, Allan Chornack, Eric Gill, and Greg Spooner, were briefly arrested by police after locking themselves onto an entrance to the JP Morgan Chase building in downtown LA, USA. Kamus declared that they chose JP Morgan Chase because out of all the investment banks in the world, JP Morgan Chase funds the most new fossil fuel projects.
