Solaris Resources' response to the report "No More Violence: Unmasking Canada at the UN Universal Periodic Review"

...It is of utmost importance to underscore that the allegations and conclusions against Solaris Resources Inc. (referred to as Solaris) were crafted by the authors of the report without seeking input from the Shuar communities of Warints and Yawi. These communities are the rightful owners of the land where Solaris conducts its operations. This omission deliberately overlooks the communities' right to express their opinions on the project, the consultation process, and the productive partnership that has been established through majority-vote decisions in the General Assemblies of both the Warints and Yawi communities over the past five years...

Furthermore, the allegations attempt to portray an entity called the Shuar Arutam Peoples Association (PSHA) as a Shuar community, which might lead the reader to assume that PSHA is the landowner where Solaris conducts exploration activities. This assumption is incorrect.

Here's an update addressing specific allegations made against Solaris in the referenced reports:

1. Regarding Ms. Josefina Tunki's complaint against Mr. Federico Velásquez of Solaris Resources, which involved alleged threats and persecution related to the Warintza Mining Project in Ecuador, it is noted that indigenous leaders, including Josefina Tunki, have encountered such challenges. However, it is important to clarify that the Ecuadorian justice system, following due process, closed the case. The official resolution, which can be obtained at the Court of Justice in Ecuador, contains the details of this conclusion.

2. There is an allegation that the company contributed to the militarization of the area in collaboration with government entities in Ecuador, leading to the alleged criminalization of 44 defenders. These defenders are accused of various offenses...Solaris categorically denies this accusation and welcomes a public discussion on this matter in the same forums where this misleading information has been disseminated...
