Myanmar: Garment workers report health issues due to excessive overtime; incl. co. responses

In August 2024, it was reported that workers at U&G (Myanmar) Fashion are facing a series of violations, including mandatory overtime all night for almost two months incl. on Saturdays, public humiliation and wage cuts if workers don’t work overtime, workers not permitted to go home during overnight shifts and forced to sleep inside the factory on the floor, making the women workers feel unsafe with the men in the factory, and forced to work continuously until the next day, pregnant workers forced to also work overtime, women facing health problems because of the long shifts, as workers don’t get breaks to eat, the factory clinic having no medicine available for workers, and the factory asking workers to lie during an inspection by the Labour Office.

In December 2024, Business & Human Rights Resource Centre invited Adastria (for Niko and..., Global Work, Studio Clip,), Allied Feather + Down, DoClasse and Limonta to respond. The responses can be found below.
