Welcome to our new and improved website

This means that now:

  • The site is fully navigable in seven international languages:  Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Portuguese, Spanish and Russian.   Our mission to empower the movement for human rights in business can only be achieved if you can get the information you need in your own language.

  • We have brought the latest allegations of abuse and company responses to the home page so you can keep up–to-date with the most recent key cases where human rights are in dispute.  The record of all company responses and non-responses is now fully searchable (over 2000 approaches to companies, with a global response rate of 70%).

  • You can easily access commentaries and reports by our global team and high-profile guests on our blog.  It includes blogs on business & human rights at the Brazil World Cup, on the repression of civil society in Egypt, and a call for the World Economic Forum in East Asia to tackle growing inequality.  Our regional briefing papers are now easily available in one place.
  • The site has a far more powerful and effective search engine to allow you to find the information you need more efficiently and faster.

There are many things about the website that purposefully have not changed.  It is still a free, public website that tracks the human rights performance of 5600 companies (their advances, and their alleged abuses); a public record of how companies in all regions are responding to concerns; a place for advocates to debate and discuss the most relevant issues of the day - including recent developments on an international binding treaty, and on the UN Guiding Principles; and the global knowledge hub for guidance from diverse quarters on making human rights real in business.

We remain committed to providing everyone working for progress in this field with the information they need, and to shining a spotlight on under-reported stories as well as profiling headline debates.  We also welcome any of your suggestions for material to feature on the site: it may be a response or commentary on something already there, or an item that we don’t yet include.

For all our keen users who were used to the previous design: please don’t worry – all the information and analysis from the old site is still there and should be more accessible.  If you have difficulties, please send your question via the "Feedback" button and we will endeavour to get back to you within 24 hours.

Website upgrades and redesigns are renowned as organisational nightmares characterised by spectacular delays and budget over-runs.  Our experience was not a nightmare, but it was rarely a sweet-dream either and involved an impressive effort by our global team.

So, please enjoy the fruits of our efforts to deliver new delight to our users - and find out more about our work if you are new to us.  This website exists to build transparency, strengthen accountability and empower our movement for business and human rights.  Please also share the site via Twitter, Facebook and elsewhere on social media.  With our modest means, we reply on promotion by you, our users.
