On 23 July 2024, police detained 200 farmers from the organisation Bhoosvadhina Virodhi Horata Samithi in Devanahalli district during a march to Chief Minister's residence to demand that land acquisition process be stopped in which Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) is set to acquire 1,777 acres for the Haralur Industrial Area Development Project (Phase II).

About 700 families will be impacted by the project and reports suggest more than 6,000 are engaged in farming related work in the area. The protest has been ongoing for more than 800 days and final notices were issued for land acquisition were issued in a couple of impacted villages, which may have been the reason for the march.
