However, on 23 June 2024 at 06:00, as a result of shelling of Ukraine's energy system, there was a complete interruption of electricity supply from the energy distribution company DTEK, which led to the simultaneous shutdown of all main units and backup equipment of the Coke Plant.

As a result of the sudden loss of power and the effects of excessively high temperatures of hot coke and coke oven gas, equipment in Coke Shop No. 1 caught fire. Despite the difficult conditions caused by the state of war in Ukraine since February 2022, AMKR continues to implement environmental protection measures. Every year, dust suppression work is carried out: reduction of emissions during mass explosions, use of alluviation technology, arrest of dusty surfaces on TSFs and dumps, as well as measures to suppress dust on roads and residential areas in the zone of influence of the company.
