Barry Callebaut is committed to transparency and sustainability in its supply chains – including palm oil, which only accounts for 9% of the total ingredients used in our products.

Due to the complex and widely branched supply chain of palm oil, Barry Callebaut has several tools and mechanisms to ensure the transparency and sustainability of the supply chain. Additionally, we established our "Grievance Mechanism" - a uniform tool and procedure for all sustainability-related complaints. This tool is designed to receive and consistently address complaints or claims about non-compliance with international standards, local regulations, and our supply chain guidelines.

Despite these efforts at the individual level, structural problems remain in the palm oil supply chain and we believe in the need for a coordinated approach by all stakeholders and mandatory due diligence. For this reason, and to further advance the requirements for sustainable palm oil, we have been a member of the Round Table on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) since 2011 and are also members of the Palm Oil Collaboration Group (POCG)...
