C&A's response to Beximco Group factory closures
Can you confirm whether the facility linked to the allegation is within your supply chain?
Beximco is no longer part of C&As supply chain. The last order was shipped in October 2024.
In light of reports that a reduction in orders from buyers contributed to the factory closures, what steps did your company take to ensure that your purchasing practices, in regards to order volumes at Beximco factories, met the standard required to protect workers' rights and livelihoods?
C&A worked with Beximco for a limited time and accounted for less than 2% of their total capacity. Throughout the protests, we maintained close communication with Beximco regarding the challenges they were facing. Our highest priority was to collaborate to find feasible solutions in accordance with our policies. Unfortunately, due to issues affecting Beximco’s supply, some orders had to be cancelled by mutual agreement. Considering the limited scope of our business relationship, this could not have had a measurable impact on the supplier’s overall situation or the well-being of its workers.
We request more information on the allegation, including what your company has done to investigate the situation and ensure remedy for workers, including addressing any outstanding payments owed to them.
C&A was not a customer of Beximco in December 2024.
