IHRB and BWI have developed a policy brief which addresses the risks of skill mismatches and poor working conditions in the green transition, emphasizing workforce impact, job distribution, required skills, and changes in working conditions.

The report highlights that:

• To decarbonize the built environment, green jobs must address the construction sector’s high injury rates, gender gap, precarious work, and informal employment.
• Ensuring decent working conditions, addressing OSH risks, and promoting unionization are essential for the future of green employment.
• Despite predicted job growth, challenges like inadequate working conditions and varying skill requirements persist.
• Equitable access to green jobs and improved conditions are crucial for fulfilling the green transition.

The report release was accompanied by the publication of a new website for the two-year project under which it was released which allows the reader to explore the report's findings by city, including positive and negative impacts of decarbonisation initiatives, and different thematic principles of advancing a Just Transition.
