Italy: Investigation finds "heavy exploitation" of Chinese workers at subcontractors of thirteen luxury fashion brands, incl. Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Prada & others

In December 2025, it was reported that an investigation by Italian prosecutors found alleged 'heavy exploitation' of Chinese migrant workers at workshops in the supply chain of thirteen luxury fashion companies in Italy.

The prosecutors have asked the companies to provide documents on audits and other internal governance mechanisms as part of the probe.

The fashion companies are: Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Prada, Adidas Italy, Missoni, Ferragamo, Givenchy Italia, Alexander McQueen Italia, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent Manifatture, Pinko, Coccinelle and Off-White Operating. It is unclear how many subcontractors are linked to the abuse.

The brands did not immediately comment on the prosecutors’ requests and allegations, according to journalists.

The probe is the most recent in a series of allegations of human rights abuse in the supply chains of luxury brands in Italy, including recent investigations into Tod’s and Loro Piana, and previous allegations of abuse in the supply chains of Dior, Velntino, Armani and Alviero Martini.
